The story follows a boy in ancient times when mythical monsters and magical creatures roamed the world. He is raised by Volupa, an immortal two-headed she-wolf. He possesses extraordinary strength and speed and believes his Moms when they explain that humans are helpless and bizarre creatures with very little fur. More importantly, no matter how many clues Volupa leaves, Wolf Boy thinks he’s a wolf and has no idea that he’s human.

One day, he declares his desire to leave home and become a great hero. That’s when things really get interesting. He meets his future best friend forever (BFF) Monkey King and later they crash into (and constantly annoy) Tessi the young Amazon warrior. Together, they begin their hapless journey to the mythical land of Atlantis.

Inspiration

Sun Wukong, also known as the Monkey King, is a mythological figure in many Chinese legends. Most notable of these is “Journey to the West” (click to read) (西游记), a fantastic Chinese novel published in the 16th century and attributed to Wu Cheng’en. It is one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature.

Born from a rock when the mountains first appeared on Earth, Monkey King is our main hero. He’s a magician, a fun loving trouble maker, and um,… he can’t remember the rest. Oh yeah, he has the worst memory in the history of the world! He LOVES adventure, is easily bored, and is a 100% loyal and true friend. He’ll never let you down…as long as he doesn’t forget what he’s doing.

Here’s a list of his super powers in order of awesomeness: immortality, morphing powers, cloud surfing, practically indestructible and true sight. He also has a magical staff (Ruyi Jingu Bang) which he shrinks down to the size of a toothpick and hides behind his ear. He admires Wolf Boy’s innocense and decides to join him. Plus, he has nothing better to do.

Wolf Boy was raised by the mythical two-headed she-wolf Volupa. He possesses extraordinary strength and speed, but has no idea that he’s human. To him, people are strange and helpless creatures that constantly need to be rescued. His staggering lack of common sense is matched only by his boundless exuberance and a desire to help others.

With each new madcap adventure, Wolf Boy battles monsters and villains in the ancient world, leaving a trail of mayhem behind him. You can always count on Wolf Boy to do the right thing in exactly the wrong way.

Tessi (a.k.a. Penthesilea) is from a long line of extraordinary warriors and is trying hard to make a name for herself. Her mother is Otrera, Queen of the Amazons and her father is Ares, the god of war. Every young Amazon begins their journey by defeating a legendary monster, but finding one is proving to be more difficult than she could ever imagine.

Tessi was raised to be clever, courageous and bold, but never cruel or cowardly. She is the most devoted and agile of her sisters and the best strategist of her generation. However, she lacks patience. Learning to stay calm is one of her main priorities.

She appreciates Wolf Boy’s nose for adventure, especially the kind that end in epic battles! Plus, he’ll constantly test her patience. So, all things considered, Wolf Boy and Monkey King are just the type of friends Tessi is looking for (as long as they don’t annoy her to death).
