Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Black Cat”
For our latest series on GHOST METAL, Miguel Guerra we created an adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe’s The Black Cat ₍^. .^₎⟆
This is Series 8 in our weekly FREE Webtoon. Poe is known for his dark, haunting tales and chilling poetry. His masterfully macabre prose continues to influence writers and artists to this day. Although he suffered tragedies during his short life, his legacy has left him among the giants of American literature.
Our Adaptation
Edgar Allan Poe wrote The Black Cat in 1843. This horror mystery is told from the perspective of an insane narrator who, in his own words, does not expect the you to believe him. In this rather modern way of introducing a character, a man sits in his prison cell, scheduled to die the following day. He looks back and recounts to gruesome story of how he ended up in his position…but you have to wait until the end to find out.
While I adapted Poe’s story into a script for comic books, Miguel Guerra added his unique, artistic touch to bring the words to life.
